El Sobre — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026 · Leer en español
This Privacy Policy explains how ObedientAmbition, Unipessoal LDA ("ObedientAmbition", "we", "us", or "our"), operating as Lagosta Games, handles information when you use El Sobre (the "App"), a political satire game for iPhone and Android published on the App Store and Google Play under the ID com.obedientambition.elsobre.
1. Who we are
The data controller responsible for personal data described in this policy is:
- ObedientAmbition, Unipessoal LDA (Lagosta Games)
- Lisbon, Portugal
- Email: stores@lagostaventures.com
- Phone: +351 912 163 218
2. In short
- No account. The App never asks for your name, email address, phone number or a password.
- No game servers. Your careers, progress and settings are stored on your device and are never sent to us.
- The store handles payment. Apple or Google processes purchases; we never see your payment details.
- Ads come from Google AdMob, which processes some device data. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before ads are personalised.
3. Information processed when you play
Game data stored on your device
The App keeps the following in its local storage on your device so it can save and resume the game:
- up to three careers, in progress or finished;
- progress between careers: Favours, perks bought, endings seen and lifetime statistics (careers played, arrests);
- settings: language, form of address (he or she), sound effects, haptics, hard mode, and whether you have read the opening notice and the tutorial;
- which purchases you own, so that they work offline;
- ad pacing: how many decisions you have made and when the last ad was shown, so that no ad appears in your first minutes of play or twice in quick succession.
None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. The App reads your device's language on the device to choose its starting language.
Device backups
If iCloud Backup or Android backup is turned on, your device's operating system may include the App's local data in those backups or in a device-to-device transfer. These services are run by Apple or Google under their own terms; we do not receive or operate those backups. The App has no cloud save service of its own.
Sharing a front page
Challenge a friend creates an image of your career's final front page and opens your device's share sheet. Whether you send it, to whom and through which app is up to you; it does not pass through us.
In-app purchases
Remove ads, The Decade Pack and the Complete Edition are one-time purchases made through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google), which process the payment and your account information under their own privacy policies. The App receives product, transaction and entitlement information needed to complete the purchase, unlock the content and restore it, and keeps a record of what you own on your device. Restore purchases asks the store for that information again. We do not receive your payment-card or bank-account details.
Advertising: Google AdMob
The App shows two kinds of advertising, supplied by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited if you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and Google LLC elsewhere):
- full-screen interstitial ads, shown between cards after a number of decisions and after a career ends, never in your first ten minutes of play; and
- optional rewarded ads, which you choose to watch in exchange for a lifeline in the game (Call the Lawyer and the Emergency Briefcase). They are never shown unless you ask.
To serve and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and processes, among other things: your IP address, from which an approximate location can be inferred; device identifiers, including the advertising identifier (on iOS, only if you allow tracking; on Android, the Android advertising ID) and identifiers scoped to the app or developer; information about ad interactions, such as which ads were shown, taps and video views; and diagnostic and performance information about the SDK. Google processes this information as an independent controller under its own privacy policy, as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Personalised ads. Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, ads are personalised only if you consent in the Google consent message shown when you open the App. On iPhone, ads are also personalised only if you allow tracking when iOS asks. If you decline, Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads, which use limited data such as coarse location and the current app context for delivery, measurement and fraud prevention, rather than a profile built about you. Your choice does not change how many ads you see: that depends only on the pace of play.
Removing ads. Buying Remove ads or the Complete Edition stops the interstitial ads. The two rewarded lifelines stay available, and play an ad only if you choose them.
No account, analytics or tracking by us
The App does not require an ObedientAmbition account or login and does not include an app-analytics or crash-reporting SDK of our own. Beyond what the advertising described above involves, the App does not collect precise location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone recordings, health data, or the contents of other apps.
4. How information is used
Information is processed only as needed to:
- operate the App and save your careers, progress and settings on your device;
- process, verify and restore your purchases;
- show advertising to players who have not removed it, and the rewarded ads players choose to watch, and to measure and secure that advertising;
- respond to support requests and feedback;
- diagnose a problem when you voluntarily send us relevant details; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights.
5. Legal bases for processing
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or similar laws apply, processing relies on:
- Contract: providing the App and the content you purchase.
- Consent: personalised advertising and any storage of or access to information on your device that requires consent, plus optional information you choose to send us. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: showing non-personalised advertising to fund the free game, measuring advertising delivery, preventing ad fraud, supporting players and resolving technical or legal issues.
- Legal obligation: meeting applicable consumer-protection, accounting, tax and law-enforcement requirements.
6. Third-party services
The App relies on the App Store and Google Play (including their in-app purchase systems) for distribution and purchases, and on Google AdMob and Google's consent message for advertising. Each processes information under its own terms and privacy policy:
The App does not send your saved games to ObedientAmbition or to a cloud-save provider.
7. When information is shared
We do not sell personal data, and the App sends no gameplay data to us. Information is disclosed to Apple and Google for distribution and purchases, and to Google for the delivery, measurement and security of advertising, as described above. We may also disclose information we hold, such as support correspondence, to professional advisers and service providers working under appropriate obligations, to authorities where legally required, or in connection with a merger, financing, reorganisation or sale of all or part of our business, subject to applicable law.
United States. Under some US state laws, disclosing data for targeted advertising may count as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. Where those laws apply, Google's consent message lets you opt out from the App.
8. Your choices and controls
- You can play without creating an account.
- You can change or withdraw your advertising choices at any time in the App, under Settings → Privacy options.
- On iPhone, you can allow or refuse tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on the device). Google's own controls are at My Ad Center.
- You can stop interstitial ads by buying Remove ads or the Complete Edition.
- Settings → Erase everything deletes your careers and progress on the device; your purchases can be recovered with Restore purchases. Uninstalling the App deletes all its local data. Copies in device backups remain until you manage them through Apple or Google.
9. Data retention
Game data stays on your device until you erase it or remove the App. Apple and Google keep purchase records under their own policies. Google keeps the information it processes for advertising under its own retention policies. Support correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations.
10. Your data protection rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to receive your data in a portable format. Because the App keeps your game data only on your device, most of these are exercised there: by erasing it, uninstalling, or changing the privacy options. For anything else, including help with what depends on Google or Apple, contact us. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
You may also complain to a supervisory authority. In Portugal, this is the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD); you can also contact the authority where you live, such as the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) in Spain.
11. Children
El Sobre is rated for players aged 13 and over and is not directed to children under 13. It does not ask for a player account or date of birth, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App is not enrolled in Google Play's Designed for Families programme or the App Store's Kids category, and its advertising is requested as not child-directed and limited to content suitable for teenagers. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent us personal information may contact us to request its deletion.
12. International transfers
Apple, Google and other recipients may process information in countries outside your own. Where required, transfers are protected by recognised safeguards such as adequacy decisions (including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework), standard contractual clauses or other lawful mechanisms.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the information and risks involved. Information sent by the advertising SDK is encrypted in transit. No device, transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, its service providers or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised policy on this page and update the date above; if a change is significant, we will also say so in the App. If a future version adds accounts, analytics, cloud saves or other data practices, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
15. Contact us
Questions or requests about this policy can be sent to stores@lagostaventures.com. For help with the game, see El Sobre support.
